Emergency responders to take part in active shooting training

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Friday morning, far west suburban police and fire crews will gear up for a day of disaster.

Numerous public safety agencies are set to  participate in a mock drill that will prepare them for a real life situation, should one happen inside a theater.

From 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. the Village of Addison will be holding a training exercise simulating an active shooter at a public venue.

The Addison Police and Fire Departments, numerous DuPage County Public Safety Agencies, and local area hospitals are partnering with the Marcus Theater for the "full scale" exercise.

"This exercise will test the response of both police and fire agencies and hospitals will be treating 'victims' from the drill to test their overall procedures as well," village officials said in a press release.
