Extra-alarm fire at Far South Side scrapyard struck out

A large fire that led to a HazMat situation at a Far South Side scrapyard Monday afternoon has been struck out, more than four hours after it began.

Crews were at the scene of the scrapyard fire at 3033 E. 106th St., where it was upgraded to an extra-alarm blaze about 3:30 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

The fire was struck out and the HazMat was secured about 7:15 p.m. Crews remained on the scene Monday evening for cleanup.

No injuries were reported, according to Fire Media.
