Fatal car crash on I-55 near Chicago forces lane closures, police say
COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. - A deadly car crash on Interstate 55 in the southwest suburbs early Sunday morning shut down the southbound lanes for multiple hours.
Troopers responded to the scene at I-55 near I-294 in Cook County a little after 3 a.m., according to the Illinois State Police.

What we know:
The southbound I-55 lanes were closed at the location and the I-294 ramp to I-55 was also closed.
An ISP spokesperson said the roadway reopened a little after 9 a.m. Traffic was being directed to La Grange Road.
ISP was actively investigating the crash.
What we don't know:
State police did not identify or give any information about the person who was killed in the crash. It was also unclear what caused the crash or if there were any other injuries.
