Gary man killed in shooting that injured two others

A fatal shooting inside a Gary home left one man dead and sent two others to the hospital late Tuesday night.

What we know:

Gary police responded to reports of gunfire around 10:28 p.m. at a residence in the 2100 block of Delaware Street.

Inside the home, officers discovered 26-year-old Darian Hilson, of Gary, unresponsive in the kitchen. Despite efforts by first responders, Hilson was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lake County coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Officers also found a 22-year-old woman from East Chicago with a gunshot wound. She was taken to Methodist Northlake Hospital for treatment.

A third victim, a 31-year-old man from Chicago, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to Methodist Northlake Hospital by a private vehicle.

What we don't know:

Police have not released any details about a suspect or potential motive for the shooting. The conditions of the surviving victims have not been disclosed.
