Lake St. Bridge to close for maintenance this weekend
CHICAGO (SUN TIMES MEDIA WIRE) - The Lake Street Bridge over the Chicago River will be closed for maintenance work this weekend in the Loop.
The bridge will be closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic, and CTA service will be rerouted starting at 2 a.m. Saturday, according to a statement from the Chicago Department of Transportation. It will reopen by 4 a.m. Monday.
CTA Green and Pink line trains will not operate between Clinton and the Loop, according to the CTA. Shuttle buses will replace rail service between Clinton and Clark/Lake.
Pink Line trains will still run between 54th/Cermak and Clinton, the CTA said. Green Line trains will continue to run between Harlem/Lake and Clinton and between Ashland/63rd-Cottage Grove and the Loop.
Motorists heading east on Lake will be rerouted south on Clinton, east on Washington and north on Wacker to get back to eastbound Lake, CDOT said. Westbound traffic will be rerouted south on Wacker, west on Randolph and north on Canal back to Lake.
Pedestrians should use the Randolph Street Bridge, which is accessible from Canal or Wacker, CDOT said.
