Man dies after being shot, crashing car in West Elsdon: police

A man who was shot in the head while driving Monday night before crashing a car into two buildings in the Southwest Side West Elsdon neighborhood has died, police said.

The 33-year-old man was driving a 2007 Nissan Altima westbound on 55th Street at 10:42 p.m. when he was shot, he lost control of the car and it struck two buildings in the 4400 block of West 55th Street, Chicago Police said.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known. Police believe the man was speeding when the crash occurred.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released details about the death.
