New survey suggests a recession might be coming

CHICAGO - A new survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago suggests a recession might be coming. 

The survey is based on questionnaires sent to key business leaders. It found conditions are just as bad as when COVID shut down most of the economy in 2021.

Economic conditions fell by 29 points between March and April.

The Chicago Fed says this suggests the economy is performing "well below trend."
