New overnight lane closures are scheduled for next week as the Route 31 Interchange Project continues in the northwest suburbs.
Starting July 27, lanes on Route 31 in Elgin are scheduled for temporary overnight closures as part of project, according to Move Illinois.
The closures are scheduled over a two-night span, weather permitting, so crews can install new beams on the bridge carrying westbound I-90 traffic over the Route 31.
One lane in each direction on Route 31 between Tollgate Road and Davis Road will close from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Additionally, there will be full road closures at sporadic intervals, each lasting no longer than 15 minutes, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. in time for morning rush.
The work is part of the $19 million Interchange Project, designed to reconstruct bridges and ramps to improve traffic flow.
