KANKAKEE, Ill. (AP) -- The Kankakee County coroner says three men were killed and a fourth man was badly hurt in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 57.
Police were on the scene near the interstate and Illinois Route 45/52 at 6:15 a.m. Monday. The (Kankakee) Daily Journal reports the car was tossed into a culvert. Two of the dead men were pinned inside the vehicle and the third, the driver, was ejected. The injured man made it out of the vehicle. A witness called authorities.
Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner called it "one horrible accident." He says there was alcohol in the vehicle. He said autopsies are planned later Monday to determine if the driver or others were intoxicated.
