Police: Man tried to abduct, sexually assault boy in Riverdale

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Police are warning Far South Side residents after a man tried to sexually assault a boy Monday morning in the Riverdale neighborhood.
The boy was on his way to summer school in the 13400 block of South Indiana Avenue about 9:15 a.m. when a Jeep pulled up to the curb and the driver demanded the boy get into the vehicle, according to a community alert from Area South detectives.
The boy got into the man’s vehicle and the suspect drove east on 134th Street and pulled into an alley, police said. When he tried to sexually assault the boy, the child escaped and told his parents what happened.
The suspect was described as a black male about 6-foot and between 225 and 250 pounds, police said. He was driving a newer model, small black Jeep.
