Police: Man tried to lure girls at Near North Side library

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are looking for a man who tried to lure two teenage girls to his house from a Near North Side library Thursday evening.

Two girls, ages 13 and 14, were at the Chicago Public Library’s Near North Branch at 310 W. Division when the man approached and started taking to them, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

He mentioned that he lived in the Cabrini Row Houses and asked the girls to come to his home, police said.

The man left the library after a witness confronted him, but on his way out he grabbed a young boy by the arm and spoke with him, police said. The boy’s mother took her son away from him and he  left.

The suspect is described as a 21- to 25-year-old black man with brown eyes, black hair and dark complexion, police said. He was wearing a red-and-white baseball cap,  red Starter jacket and black pants.
