Police: Pet sitter, dog walker arrested for cruelty to animals
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A pet sitter and dog-walker was arrested after a year-long investigation in Cobb County.
Ashley Marie Davis was taken into custody Wednesday.
She was charged with two counts of felony aggravated cruelty to animals and two misdemeanor charges of abandonment of a domesticated animal.
Police said Lucky, a deaf pit bull mix, was supposed to be in foster care with Davis but instead was found abandoned in December 2016 at her former Cobb County residence for possibly 16 days without food or water. Animal rescue workers said Lucky was in a horrific condition, at just 31 pounds.
Davis had moved out of the Atlanta area and authorities were searching to find her.
Lucky has since been adopted by a loving family and has even learned to understand sign language.
