McDonald's is close to landing a deal to move its headquarters from suburban Oak Brook to the former Harpo Studios campus in the Fulton Market district, according to a Crain's Chicago report.

The deal would land McDonald's over 300,000 square feet of space, which was bought by Sterling Bay for $30.5 million in 2014.

McDonald's has some 2,000 corporate employees currently stationed in the suburbs. If the deal does go through, the fast food giant is expected to demolish all of the remaining Harpo buildings and construct a new office building to be used by 2018, according to the report.
