Plane lands on DeKalb County road after running out of fuel

A student pilot brought the plane down on McGirr Road, police said.

DEKALB, Ill. - A student pilot landed a small plane on a rural road in DeKalb, Illinois Thursday after the aircraft ran out of gas.

The student brought the plane down on McGirr Road, police said, which is several miles from the nearest airport.

Fuel was then brought to the plane, and it took off again without incident.

No injuries were reported.
