South suburban man charged with child porn

ALSIP (Sun-Times Media Wire) Jason Jefferies, 34, of Alsip,  used a file-sharing program to download sexually explicit images of young children is now facing child pornography charges, according to prosecutors.

Jefferies was charged with dissemination of child pornography, a Class X felony; and possession of child pornography, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

The Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, after learning of the online sharing of the images, “used a peer-to-peer file sharing program to identify an IP address that was a potential source of child pornography,” a statement from prosecutors said.

The IP address was linked to Jefferies, and on Tuesday, task force officers obtained a warrant and searched his home,prosecutors said.

Several computers were seized, and a preliminary scan “revealed numerous files containing pictures and videos of children of various ages depicted in sex acts,” prosecutors said.

At a bond hearing Thursday in Bridgeview, Judge Peter Felice ordered Jefferies held on a $1 million bond, and set his next court appearance for April 14.
