Teen finds parents dead in apparent murder-suicide in Bay City

Bay City police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide inside a home. The gruesome discovery made by the couple’s 15-year-old son. Now, the community is trying to come to terms with what happened.

“We’re just all in shock, all in shock, cause never expected anything like this,“ says Diana Osbourne.

Police arrived to the home of Bryan and Sandra Hogg on Lazy Lane in Bay City at around 8:44 a.m. Friday. Sandra’s friends came to the home looking for her. When there was no answer, they contacted the couple’s teen son, who found the bodies of his parents who both suffered gunshot wounds.

Not much has been released as to what led to the tragedy. Neighbors say the couple was a loving one and they were not aware of any problems. Sandra was a school counselor for the Bay City Independent School District, which released the following statement:

Bay City ISD learned this morning around 10:00 AM of the death of one of our staff members of 12 years, Sandra Hogg. She worked in the district in past years as a counselor at several campuses, and most currently served as an LSSP (Licensed Specialist in School Psychologist) with MCES (Matagorda County Educational Services) - the county-wide special education co-op housed within BCISD.

Sandra's only son is a freshman at Bay City High School.

A crisis team was dispatched this morning to MCES to help staff there hearing the heartbreaking news.

BCISD is grieving at this tremendous loss, and our thoughts are with the family as they deal with this tragedy.

Based on evidence at the home, Bay City police believe the case is a murder-suicide, but the investigation is ongoing.
