Two Chicago Police officers hurt in South Shore crash

SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - Two Chicago Police officers were injured in a crash on en route to a call Thursday afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood.

The 4th District officers were in a marked squad car responding to a call to assist police with a man with a gun at 12:22 p.m., according to Chicago Police. They were heading west on 79th Street with emergency lights on when they were struck on the driver’s side by a vehicle heading north on Yates.

Both officers were taken to Trinity Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The 31-year-old woman driving the other vehicle also suffered minor injuries and was taken to South Shore Hospital, police said.

She was issued a citation for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
