CHICAGO (STMW) - Two girls were struck by a car Tuesday morning in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
The girls, ages 7 and 14, were walking in the crosswalk in the 3400 block of North Austin when they were struck by a vehicle that failed to yield about 8 a.m., according to Chicago Police.
Both girls were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said. The younger girl received stitches in her chin, and her condition was stabilized. The older girl suffered minor ankle injuries.
The driver did not stop at the scene, but was taken into custody a short distance away, police said. Charges are pending as of Tuesday afternoon.
The Chicago Academy High School and Chicago Academy Elementary School are both on the block where the crash happened.
