CHICAGO (STMW) - Two people were hurt in a fire in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side Wednesday night.
The fire was reported about 8:30 p.m. in a home in the 6000 block of South Troy, according to Fire Media Affairs.
A 21-year-old man suffered burns and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to Chicago Police and fire officials. Initial reports indicated that he was a juvenile, but that information later proved to be incorrect.
A 40-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation and was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition stabilized, authorities said.
The fire also spread to a neighboring home, fire officials said.
Seven people were displaced as a result of the fire, according to police.
