Unattended package reported as suspicious at White House declared safe, officials say

An unattended package reported as suspicious at the White House Thursday evening was declared safe, officials say.  

DC Fire & EMS said they received a call at around 5:15 p.m. in reference to the package at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. 

At around 8 p.m., the Secret Service said Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel responded to the scene at declared the package safe.
