According to the Atlanta Police Department, Maranda Hakimi Harvey, 29, left her 4-year-old with a couple in the atrium of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport sometime Thursday night. Investigators said Harvey asked the couple to watch the child while she did some quick shopping.

Police said Harvey drove her personal car from Oddenton, Maryland to the airport, and she left the airport after renting a car, leaving the little girl with the couple. Officers were notified about the child and then performed a multi-state search for the mother.

Harvey was found just before 10 a.m. Saturday after Athens-Clarke County Police received a 911 call stating she was staying at the Graduate Hotel in Athens.

"She [Harvey] is unharmed but somewhat confused about what occurred the last 24 hours," Sergeant Warren Pickard with Atlanta police said Saturday afternoon.

Harvey underwent medical evaluations after she was found.

Authorities located the girl's father, who she's now with in Maryland.

Wednesday, Atlanta police said they had secured a warrant for Harvey's arrest.
