Panthers fan arrested after video shows him sucker punch man in the face at Thursday game

A Panthers fan who was caught on camera repeatedly punching another fan in the face during Thursday night’s game between the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles has been arrested, police say. App users click here.

Kyle Adam Maraghy, was arrested and charged with assault in connection to the incident. He bonded out of Mecklenburg County Jail Friday night.

In the video, a Panthers fan--Maraghy-- was observed sucker-punching another man in the stands right in the face during Thursday night's football game. The video shows a number of people attempted to break up the fight.

Warran C., who took the video, tells FOX 46 Charlotte that the alleged assailant was seated in section 541, row 24, seat 10. 

FOX 46 confirmed a police report was filed by the victim, a 62-year-old man. The victim was treated on scene at Bank of America Stadium for bruises and scratches, the report states. The incident is being categorized as a 'simple assault'. The victim and attacker were not known to each other.

The NFL was in contact with Carolina Panthers security following the incident, according to National Insider for NFL Network Ian Rapoport. 

Statement from Lance Emory, Panthers' Executive Director of Risk Management: 

“We have reviewed video tape of the incident and have identified the perpetrator. We are working with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law.

The Carolina Panthers are committed to a fan-friendly and family-friendly stadium experience. The behavior exhibited by the perpetrator is unacceptable and will not be condoned at Bank of America Stadium.”

CMPD said officers attempted to locate the assailant inside the stadium but were unsuccessful. CMPD said they've reviewed the video, gathered information and are working to apprehend the suspect involved. 

This remains an active, ongoing investigation.
