White Sox recall RHP Erik Johnson to help overworked bullpen

The Chicago White Sox have recalled right-hander Erik Johnson from Triple-A Charlotte to help an overworked bullpen.

Johnson on Tuesday replaced outfielder J.B. Shuck, who was sent to Charlotte after Monday night's 7-0 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

White Sox starter Carlos Rodon didn't get out of the first inning against the Angels, forcing manager Robin Ventura to use three relievers for the final 26 outs.

Johnson was 0-1 with a 4.22 ERA in two starts with Charlotte. The 26-year-old has made 16 appearances, all starts, over the past three seasons with the White Sox.
