Chicago weather: Icy mix possible tomorrow
CHICAGO - Today, the Chicago area will have increasing clouds with temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s.
The wind will be gusty at times, up to about 25 mph. We have the chance for light snow/flurries tonight, but widespread precipitation is in the forecast for Wednesday.
Winter weather ahead
Local perspective:
We will be watching for a potential Winter Weather Advisory to be issued today in anticipation for tomorrow's wet weather.
We will be monitoring the skies to start Wednesday with a chance for snow. The best chance early Wednesday looks to be from around I-80 points north. The snow will have to overcome the dry air close to ground. In the afternoon, widely scattered precipitation increases with freezing rain/sleet and snow possible. There will be minor accumulation at most with the ice and snow, but it may still be slick, especially on untreated surfaces. There is also a chance for thunderstorms Wednesday evening.
Temperatures will be in the low 30s Wednesday, but a nice warmup is on the way Thursday.
The rest of the week
What's next:
Partly sunny skies Thursday with highs in the low 40s. This will help melt anything left on the ground from Wednesday.
Friday will be partly sunny with highs around 30. There is another chance for the mixed bag of rain/snow on Saturday into Saturday night. Highs on Saturday will be in the mid 30s with mostly cloudy skies. Sunday will be partly sunny with highs in the low 30s.
We look to start next week with mostly sunny skies and highs around 30 degrees.
