Chicago weather: Single-digit temps here through midweek
CHICAGO - Temperatures on Sunday are in the single digits during the day and will remain so on Monday and Tuesday to start the workweek.
Fox 32 Meteorologist Mark Strehl has the forecast.
Bitter cold temps
What we know:
Overnight low temperatures will be diving to about 5 degrees below zero.
When wind chill is factored in, those temps could be anywhere from 15 degrees below zero to as much as 30 degrees below.
In response to the extreme cold, the City of Chicago will open many warming centers for those who need them.
Any lake-effect snow will be seen on the east side of Lake Michigan, so it won't affect Chicago.
What's next:
Not to worry, by Wednesday, the high will reach 22 and then we'll trend back into the 30s by the end of the week.
