Chicago weather: Snow starts the day

Snow takes center stage this morning across the Chicago area. It will fall through the morning at varying intensities, but the heaviest totals will be found across the northern tier of counties.

After the snow is over, there will be a few breaks in the cloud cover with temperatures holding roughly steady in the low 20s. Tonight will be another cold one with lows dipping deep into the single digits. A few spots could go below zero.

Here's a look at the days ahead:

Friday: Tomorrow will be a cold day, what else is new, with high temperatures again in the lower 20s. At least there will be some sunshine and no snow.

Saturday: It will warm up, perhaps crossing the freezing mark, but very little melting of any snow will take place. 

Sunday: It will be slightly colder with some sun and clouds and a high temperature in the mid to upper 20s. 

Monday: Next week still looks like milder weather will prevail with high temperatures climbing above freezing starting Monday and perhaps getting into the 40s for part of next week.
