Yesterday, we talked about a few good places to get away for a late Winter outing. While driving to Northern Wisconsin may be a little out of your time frame, there are many other locations to enjoy closer to home.
For the effort, you can't beat Starved Rock State Park near my hometown of Ottawa. This will likely be the last weekend that you might be able to view ice climbers on some of the best collection of waterfalls in the state of Illinois.
The drive from Ottawa to the park on Route 71 is one of the best in the state.
Warm up in the Lodge next to a grand fireplace afterwards, or head to Duffy's in Utica for a Frog leg dinner. Don't forget to check out the chocolate shop just across the street. The weekend is near -ENJOY IT!
