Local STEM students show off their dazzling inventions

Instead of hitting the books, more than 800 Illinois high schoolers are solving real-world STEM challenges. STEM standing for science, technology, engineering and math.

These are semester-long projects where students are partnered with leading industry mentors to create the next great invention.

Mark Harris, president of the Illinois Science and Technology Institute, joins Good Day Chicago along with students from three of the 19 schools presenting at Motorola Solutions downtown Thursday.
