2 killed, 2 wounded Tuesday in shootings across Chicago

Two people were killed and two others wounded Tuesday in shootings across Chicago, including a woman fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Gresham on the South Side.

The 18-year-old woman and a man were standing on a corner about 5:25 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Paulina when people fired shots from a Nissan, Chicago police said.

The woman was struck in the chest and rushed to Christ Medial Center in Oak Lawn, where she died, police said. The man, 23, was treated for a gunshot wound to his foot.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not release details about the death.

About an hour earlier, a man was shot to death in a McDonald’s restaurant in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.

Deshawn Rogers, 26, was fighting with a male and a female about 4:15 p.m. at the McDonalds in the 700 block of 47th Street when one of them shot him in the abdomen, police and the medical examiner’s office said.

He was taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where he died about an hour later, authorities said. He lived in Bronzeville.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

In the day’s only nonfatal shooting, a man was grazed by a bullet as he stood outside in the Gresham neighborhood.

The 45-year-old was outside at 3:50 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Carpenter Street when another male walked up and shot his left leg, police said. He was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition.

On Monday, one person was reported shot within city limits.
