48 more COVID-19 deaths in Cook County

Another 48 people died of COVID-19 in Cook County, officials announced Friday.

The newly confirmed fatalities bring the county’s toll to 4,428, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Also Friday, Illinois health officials said 44 more people died of COVID-19, raising the state’s death total to 6,580. So far, 135,470 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Illinois.
