Chicago Teachers Union to begin voting on possible strike

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Chicago teachers will begin voting Wednesday on whether they'll go on strike in a three-day vote involving all 27,000 Chicago Teacher’s Union members.

Early indications suggest the teachers will elect to go on strike.

A practice vote last month had 95 percent of CTU members backing a work stoppage.

Even if teachers vote for the strike, by law, they have to wait three months before they can walk the picket line.

The teachers have been working without a contract since June.

They last went on strike three years ago.
