Driver seriously injured when motorcycle hits deer on Edens

CHICAGO (STMW) - One person was seriously injured when a motorcycle hit a deer early Thursday on the Edens Expressway in north suburban Northfield.

The crash happened about 1 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-94 near Willow Road, according to Illinois State Police.

The motorcycle’s driver was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with serious injuries, Northfield Fire Department Assistant Chief Tom Burke told a reporter at the scene. The deer was killed in the crash.

All southbound lanes of the Edens were closed after the crash as officers investigated, but they were reopened by 5:30 a.m., state police said.
