East Chicago woman charged after police find gun, narcotics vehicle
CHICAGO - A woman from East Chicago, Indiana who let police search her vehicle after they allegedly smelled marijuana is now facing drug charges.
What we know:
Estrella M. Vidaurri, 31, was charged with two felonies, including dealing cocaine and dealing marijuana, according to a statement from the East Chicago Police Department.
On Friday, Vidaurri was driving near the intersection of East 136th Street and Deodar Street in East Chicago when police pulled her vehicle over with a broken brake light and an expired license plate, the statement said.

After Vidaurri pulled her vehicle to a stop, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside, and asked to search her car. A K9 immediately made a positive hit for narcotics, according to officials.
During the search, police found three individually wrapped bags of marijuana weighing 453.3 grams, 6 bags of cocaine weighing 172.6 grams, 50 clear plastic bags, a digital scale, $7,000 in cash, and a handgun.

Vidaurri, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, said all the contraband was her ex-boyfriends, the statement said.
She was taken to the East Chicago Police Department Jail for processing.

Whether Vidaurri will face additional charges related to the handgun found in her vehicle.
It also wasn't immediately clear whether Vidaurri is still being held in custody or has been released on bond.
