MECHANICSVILLE, Virginia (Fox 32 News) - A girls softball team was disqualified from the Junior League World Series because of a social media post in which they gave an opposing team "the bird."

The photo, posted on Snapchat, showed six of the 12- to 14-year-old players from the Atlee junior league team from Mechanicsville, Virginia, "flipping off" their opponents. The caption said "Watch out host."

The game was going to be nationally televised.

The league told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the behavior violated the league's "policies regarding unsportsmanlike conduct."

Their coach thinks disqualifying them was an overreaction.

"It's a travesty for these girls," manager Scott Currie told the Times-Dispatch.
