Man attempts to abduct Harvey woman walking her dog

SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - A man with a gun followed a woman walking her dog, then tried to break into her residence in south suburban Harvey last week.

At 5:10 a.m. Sept. 23, the woman was walking her dog near East 157th Street and Ashland Avenue before going to work when she heard noises coming from the bushes near her neighbor’s house and her dog began acting funny, according to a statement from Harvey police.

She then saw a man in her peripheral vision move near the side of her house. She hurried inside and saw the suspect run from one side of her house to her vehicle and then onto her porch. She slammed the door shut and saw him try to pull open the door while holding a gun in his hand, police said.

A surveillance video shows a white van pulling backwards and forwards in the front of the woman’s home, and the male running onto her porch with a gun. He then got back into the van and drove off, according to police.

Anyone with information should call Harvey police at (708) 331-2131.
