ROBBINS (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man was killed and another was wounded Wednesday evening in south suburban Robbins.

Shortly before 6 p.m., authorities found a 56-year-old man near 135th Street and St. Louis Avenue and a 51-year-old man near 135th Street and Pulaski, according to spokeswoman Sophia Ansari of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, which is handling the investigation.

The man found at St. Louis was initially taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was later pronounced dead, Ansari said. The other man was also taken to Christ Medical Center, and he was expected to live.

Two vehicles with shattered windows from bullet holes were part of a crime scene that spanned several blocks and remained taped off at 10:30 p.m.

A firefighter also suffered multiple cuts to his hand and was taken to a hospital for treatment, fire officials said. He was later released.

The sheriff’s office continued to investigate the shooting Thursday night. Anyone who was in the area or has information about the shooting was asked to call the sheriff’s office at (312) 603-6444.
