A man was seriously wounded in a stabbing early Sunday in the Belmont Central neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

At 2:43 a.m., the 21-year-old was trying to break up a fight when someone stabbed him in his abdomen and chest in the 600 block of West Belden, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

The man’s attacker — who was described a bald, Hispanic male — ran off after the stabbing, police said. He was last seen wearing a purple suit and a black tie.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
