Marengo crash: Teen driver cited for house collision

A teenage driver was cited after crashing into a house in Marengo on Tuesday.

What we know:

At 3:20 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the 900 block of Partridge Circle in Marengo following an Apple Crash Detection alert and reports of a vehicle striking a house.

Upon arrival, crews found a car that had collided with the garage of a one-story duplex under construction. The house was unoccupied at the time, and damage was concentrated in the garage area.

Two teenage girls were outside the vehicle when responders arrived. One had a minor hand injury, but paramedics treated her at the scene without hospital transport.

Marengo Police cited the teenage driver for the crash.

"This incident serves as an important reminder to slow down and practice safe driving, especially in residential areas where added caution is essential," said Marengo Police Sgt. Kjellgren.

What we don't know:

Authorities have not disclosed specific details about how, or why, the crash occurred.

The Marengo City Building Department was contacted due to the structural damage to the house.
