PORTAGE, Ind. - An investigation has been launched after the remains of a woman who had been missing since 2020 were recently discovered in Portage.

The backstory:

Portage police announced Wednesday the remains of Shannon Orton were discovered recently within city limits.

Orton was originally reported missing from Cressmoor Mobile Home Park in Hobart in the summer of 2020. Portage detectives joined the investigation in 2023 after they were contacted by Hobart police with new information.

Police urged anyone with information on Orton's disappearance or death to come forward.
