Northwestern students report home invasion in Evanston

EVANSTON, Ill. (STMW) - Two Northwestern University students were the victims of a home invasion and robbery early Tuesday in north suburban Evanston.
About 2 a.m., a man broke a window in the rear door of the students’ second-floor apartment in the 600 block of Clark Street in Evanston, according to a security alert posted on the university’s website.
The man threatened the students and said he had a weapon, but none was displayed, according to the alert. He took two laptops, two wallets and a book bag before leaving. The students were not injured.
They called 911 and both Evanston police and Northwestern police arrived and searched for the suspect, but no one was found.
The suspect was described as a male wearing dark clothing and a stocking cap, according to the alert.

All university community members are advised to be alert when traveling on or off campus, especially at night, the alert said. Suspicious activity should be immediately reported to police by calling 911 or using a Blue Light emergency phone.
