Police: 1 killed, 1 wounded in West Englewood shooting

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - One man was killed and another wounded in a West Englewood neighborhood shooting late Thursday on the South Side, police said.

The men, ages 28 and 38, were outside about 10:30 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Damen when someone walked up to them with a gun and started shooting, according to Chicago Police.

The younger man was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The older man was shot in the left leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the fatality.
