Police: Man attacks Northwestern student after entering her dorm

Police are searching for a man suspected of attacking a Northwestern University student after she found him in her dormitory room at the north suburban Evanston campus.

The student reported about 4:30 p.m. that a man came into her room in Allison Hall at 1820 Chicago Ave., according to an alert posted on the university’s website.

They argued, and the man ran away, according to the alert. When she followed him, he hit her and said “I’ll shoot you.”

The student was not seriously injured and did not see a weapon.

The suspect was described as a 6-foot, 201-pound black man in his late 30s or early 40s with a bald head, no facial hair and medium complexion, according to the alert. He was wearing a green sweatshirt and blue jeans and carried a gray backpack.

University police have increased security in Northwestern residence halls and on campus following the incident.
