South Shore Line trains halted after derailment

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A South Shore Line train derailed in northwest Indiana Saturday morning, halting all train service.

The passenger train derailment happened shortly before 7 a.m. at Carroll Avenue in Michigan City, Indiana, according to an alert on the transit agency’s website.

Trains were still on hold as of 7:25 a.m. Metra was honoring South Shore tickets on its Electric District lines to accommodate passengers.
