Stewart McLean, missing 'Virgin River' actor, found dead in suspected homicide

Stewart McLean, the actor known for his roles in "Virgin River" and other shows, was found dead in British Columbia after he was reported missing last week. 

According to Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Canada, McLean’s death is being investigated as a homicide. Here’s the latest:

What we know:

Squamish RCMP said McLean, 45, was reported missing May 18, three days after he was last seen at his home in Lions Bay, B.C., about 20 miles outside of Vancouver. 

On May 20, homicide investigators took over the case. In a statement to CBC, police said McLean’s remains were found in the Lions Bay area. 

What we don't know:

Police haven’t said how McLean died, nor have they identified a suspect or motive.

What they're saying:

"We are pursuing all available leads as we work to find answers for the family, friends and loved ones of Mr. McLean," Cpl. Esther Tupper said in a release given to CBC. 

"It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved client, Stew McLean," talent agent Jodi Caplan of Lucas Talent Inc. wrote on Facebook. "I was fortunate to have worked with Stew for more than 10 years.

"He was always such a pleasure to deal with - dedicated, professional, eager, and endlessly funny!" she continued. "Many casting directors have reached out to share their condolences with Stew’s family and with our agency, and every message says the same thing: what a truly great guy he was, and how deeply he will be missed. Rest in peace, Stew."
