Teen robbed 6 people at gunpoint in 6 hours across Chicago: police

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy Thursday in connection with a series of armed robberies that took place across Chicago on Jan. 4.

The teen faces five felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm and one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm. 

Police said that he participated in the following incidents alongside other suspects:

  • 3:30 a.m.: Armed robbery of a 43-year-old man in the 1000 block of West 87th Street
  • 6:00 a.m.: Armed robbery of a 23-year-old man in the 1500 block of West Taylor Street
  • 6:30 a.m.: Armed robbery of a 39-year-old woman in the 5600 block of West Fullerton
  • 8:56 a.m.: Armed robbery of a 28-year-old woman in the 100 block of West 87th Street
  • 9:01 a.m.: Armed robbery of a 47-year-old woman in the 100 block of West 95th Street
  • 9:03 a.m.: Armed robbery of a 43-year-old woman in the 8000 block of South Halsted

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and remains in custody awaiting his detention hearing, scheduled for Friday.
