The way we board airplanes is making more people sick
The way airlines have passengers board planes could be making more people sick.
A study from Arizona State University found that the traditional way of boarding (first class first, middle section next, passengers in the back last) leads to crowding in the aisles and puts an excessive number of people in close contact.
The researchers say a safer way to board people would be to split seats into two sections and then randomly boarding passengers from those sections.
Changing this one thing would reduce the risk of exposure to illness from 67 to 40%.
