West Elsdon kidnapping report was unfounded: police

CHICAGO (SUN TIMES MEDIA WIRE) - A report that an 11-year-old girl was kidnapped Monday in the West Elsdon neighborhood on the Southwest Side has been ruled unfounded, according to police.

In a community alert, Chicago Police initially said the girl was picked up by a man and put in his minivan as she walked home from school in the 3600 block of West 55th Street. The alert said the girl managed to escape unharmed.

On Tuesday, police reported that an investigation determined the incident was unfounded.
