Chicago Bulls agree to an extension with guard Lonzo Ball | Reports

The Chicago Bulls are keeping their stalwart defensive guard in town as they reshape the roster.

Guard Lonzo Ball and the Bulls have agreed on a multi-year extension, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

The deal is a two-year, $20 million extension.

Charania reported that Ball's extension came on the heels of the Bulls fielding trade offers as the trade deadline began to wind down. He reported "several suitors" emerged as trade options for Ball in recent days, but the Bulls opted to keep Ball in place as a reward for his play since returning to the court for the first time in two years.

This comes just days after the Bulls sent star guard Zach LaVine to Sacramento in a three-team trade.

Ball returned to the court triumphantly after a meniscus transplant kept him away from the game for two seasons. So far in the 2024-2025 season, Ball has averaged 7.2 points per game, 3.5 assists per game and 3.4 rebounds per game.

He's played in 30 games, starting nine.

Ball originally began the season with a 16-minute-per-game minute restriction. They wanted to be cautious as he worked his way back mentally and physically to playing at the NBA level.

Now, Ball is up to a 28-minute playing time restriction. There's a chance Ball won't have any restriction by the season's end, Billy Donovan noted.
