After seeing multiple children experience issues with their hair while admitted in the intensive care unit, one Chicago doctor realized the hair care options offered to her patients were not inclusive. So she changed that. Dr. Kay Jacobs, a critical care physician at Advocate Children's Hospital in Park Ridge, started packaging kits on her own kitchen table to offer to patients.
