Cold weather on the way after warm Monday in Chicago

Monday saw unseasonably warm temperatures with highs in the low to mid 50s, but colder air is moving in starting Tuesday.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the mid 30s. Snow showers are possible on Wednesday, but the day will generally remain cloudy with highs around 30.

A blast of bitter cold air will arrive Wednesday night, plunging temperatures into the single digits by Thursday morning. Wind chills could feel as cold as 10 to 20 degrees below zero early Thursday. Although Thursday is expected to be sunny, it will remain cold throughout the day with highs only reaching the mid to upper teens.

By Friday, temperatures will begin to moderate with partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 30s. A storm system is expected to move through the area Friday night into Saturday, bringing a mix of rain and snow.

Saturday will bring cloudy skies and a chance for rain and snow showers, with temperatures hovering around the upper 30s. The weather will dry out on Sunday, with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 40.
